Furniture Designer

POSITION:  Designer CORPORATE Team with ability to Flex to Workplace Strategies and Healthcare

 

GOAL: Win business, through strategic product applications while creating an exemplary Client and Sales Team EXPERIENCE. Meet and/or exceeding client project goals, timelines, commitments, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

 

DESCRIPTION:  Designer with CORPORATE Design and product application experience.  This person reports to the EVP of WST & Design

 

DESIGN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategically guiding the sales process to close business. Ability to "drive" a project from start to finish
  • Creating application concept drawings, thought starters, specs and budget pricing while maintaining team processes
  • Extensive project budgets and pricing using Excel and CET and proven processes
  • Visual product presentations using CET renderings and Power Point
  • Handle all design aspects of client project work through the installation process
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the CORPORATE Design team in support of our customers and the Sales Team
  • Because this is a customer facing position it requires good client interaction skills and managing client's expectations
  • Ability to create project timelines and estimate design hours prior to onset of project. Managing to those timelines (commitments) for yourself and for your team members
  • Project and day-to-day design production work is maintained at approximately 60% of the job/time
  • Build strong client relationships through trust

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to listen and uncover customer needs and lead creative design development
  • Enjoys client interaction and can engage in a "sales" discussion.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients
  • Comfortable or willing to learn to lead presentations and demonstrating solutions to customers
  • Comfortable with budget discussions ability to learn product pricing. (i.e., Estimates, contracts, margins) 
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to follow WST Team processes
  • Self-starter with a high level of responsiveness, adaptability and flexibility
  • Must have the ability to work well with others to accomplish WST Team goals
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and is detail oriented
  • Possesses the following: self-motivation, resourcefulness, positive and professional attitude
  • Initiate personal development to strengthen WST Team's expertise on products, issues, research, initiatives, LEED, etc.
  • Require time management/prioritization skills and the ability to meet goals personally/team)
  • Desire to work on a team as an effective contributing member
  • Strong communication skills Ability to seek to understand and question, not just "follow directions".
  • Desire to develop sales understanding and thought process
  • Attend vendor meetings to assess new and unique product/training opportunities 
  • Thorough working knowledge of products offered by Color Art and awareness of competitive product offerings
  • Ability to research competition to apply/provide products strategically
  • Ability to wordsmith and assemble "RFI" requests for information and questions
  • Ability to deliver knowledge-based expertise and consulting that adds value, and separates Color-Art as a workplace leader and solution provider
  •  

DESIGN EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of Contract Furniture experience Dealer experience preferred
  • Ability to run a project from beginning to close meet deadlines and timelines
  • Creative development of presentation materials including, but not limited to, presentation boards, binders, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint or MRL
  • Strong CAD/CAP and CET Designer, Revit Blue Beam

  • Meet billable goals
  • Reduce errors
  • Meet internal & external deadlines based on timelines created
  • Customer Satisfaction Survey goal

 

EDUCATION:

  • Degree in Interior Design

 

COMPENSATION:

  • Based on experience and performance
