Financial Controller/Accounting Manager

Color Art Palette (subsidiaries located in St Louis and Kansas City) creates and provides the best places for people to do their best work. Responsibilities

  • Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the company's fiscal function and performance.
  • Oversee financial reporting for the Division
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company and communicate financial metrics to senior executives by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data.
  • Manage company assets, proposing cash utilization and cost savings initiatives.
  • Prepare budgets and achieve budget objectives by planning expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by keeping updated on existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to the legal requirements, filing financial reports and advising senior executives on needed actions.
  • Protect the business by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Maintain relationships with auditors and ensure all internal documents are provided in a timely manner.
  • Provide insight and guidance on business financial related issues to the sales, procurement and project management teams.
  • Strong collaborator provides insight on issues that affect the organization.
  • Willingly embrace technology systems and learn our current operating systems (Hedberg and Computerease)

You are:

  • Analytical. You don't need to be an ex-banker, but you must be very comfortable in Excel and have a command of finance and accounting.
  • Strategic. You are able to identify the places where measurement matters most and make solid, actionable recommendations.
  • Articulate. You are an effective communicator comfortable with sharing a narrative that complements data.
  • Curious and driven. You are passionate about actively driving growth and profits.
  • Collaborative. You thrive in an environment with a lot of cross-team communication. You are highly comfortable working within a self-directed culture and navigating ambiguity.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or business degree with compensatory experience
  • CPA and Big 4 experience a plus, but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role
  • Hands on operating experience with general ledger, A/P, A/R,
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, data driven environment
  • Adapt to varying workloads and tight deadlines
  • Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
  • Self-directed with good leadership qualities
  • Team player, straight forward communication style, ethical, understanding, good work ethic and "hands on" management style.
  • Proficient in Outlook and Excel (Intermediate Level +)
